What we do and how we do it

It is vital to our business to offer rapid-development resources and to ensure consistently high standards of project management and associated deliverables. We use a number of industry-standard tools and processes to achieve this.
 

Project Management

Project planning, management, tracking and reporting is carried out using MS project, probably the most widely-used project planning tool in use today.

Software and Firmware Development

Software development is accomplished using a variety of industry-standard tools and methods. Ovus has wide experience of many different software platforms and languages. We frequently work alongside clients’ engineers and use configuration management tools that co-ordinate the teams’ work, even across different continents!

By the nature of Digital TV, most of our work results in embedded solutions. We are skilled in designing, developing, optimising and testing software products in assorted hardware environments with tight space and timing constraints.

We operate an integrated design environment, allowing our team of FPGA engineers operate seamlessly with out software and hardware development processes, so ensuring rapid design cycles.

Hardware Development

Schematic capture is carried out using Orcad or Mentor Graphics PADS. PCB layout is accomplished using the PADs integrated schematic capture/PCB layout environment. PCB performance simulation is carried out using the Mentor integrated analysis tool, Hyperlynx, which allows track impedance, propagation delays and EMC issues to be simulated and evaluated before manufacture of the PCB itself.

We have also used client-preferred tools where this has proved convenient for the client, for example in collaborative designs with the client’s in-house team.

Prototype Manufacture

Some clients prefer to manufacture prototypes themselves, others require us to prepare prototype or even small batch production runs. We can offer this service using our in house prototyping facility or in collaboration with associate manufacturing houses in the Cambridge area.
